Darksight Analytics was founded by me, Valdemar Balle. It all started in 2020 when I immersed myself in scientific literature exploring the nexus between social online spaces and physical threats. As a sociologist, the intersection of these structured social processes truly captivated me. Isn’t it fascinating that some online cultures are entirely facilitated by cyberspace yet still have real-life implications for actual people and real life social phenonema? I certainly think so. Over the years, I’ve developed a deep passion for Social Media Intelligence (SOCMINT), investigating various group-based online cultures and communities, from political and religious extremist milieus to financial crime and drug trafficking. Since then, I have assisted private sector specialists and public sector scientists with data gathering and analysis tasks.
